On Saturday May 30th, David Speiser and I will lead the next NYC Audubon photo tour to Sterling Forest in Orange County, NY. Target species are Golden-winged Warbler, Cerulean Warbler (could be difficult), Yellow and Prairie Warblers. We only have ONE opening left. Sterling is one of those special places and I’d love to see that last space filled. It would be a shame for one lucky photographer to miss out. Here’s a sample of what you might get. SOLD OUT

Photo Workshop
Things have been very slow this past week, at least from a photographer’s point of view. Yesterday I had scheduled a client for an afternoon shoot. I was really worried there’d be nothing to photograph as I’d been out all day and it was pretty dismal. Just before my client showed up I found a place in Central Park where Baltimore Orioles and Gray Catbirds were coming in to feed. Whew! I’ve already gotten feedback that he learned a lot in the 3+ hours we spent together and that makes me feel really good. You always want to please your customers. Here are a few images I captured prior to his arrival. I never shoot when the client is there. They deserve my undivided attention.
NYC Audubon Photo Tour
Yesterday, David Speiser and I led the first of many photo tours for NYC Audubon. We had 6 participants and if you asked them I’m sure they’d all tell you how much they learned and what a good time they had. Our focus is to teach proper camera technique, exposure, how to approach birds without scaring them plus a lot more. We were more then happy to answer any questions including how to process an image in Photoshop.
You can see the complete schedule for all upcoming tours if you press “Photo Tours” above. Got to go now and see what photo ops are available today.

Tuesday’s Photo Tour Postponed
We have rescheduled Tuesday’s Central Park Photo Tour to Wednesday due to weather. I hope all of you that signed up will be able to make the rain date. I’m looking forward to meeting you all and sharing some of the knowledge David and I picked up over the years. It’ll be a fun morning so try to make it. If you haven’t signed on yet, there’s still time. Call Erik at NYC Audubon at 212-807-7959 or go to the NYC Audubon website HERE
Always check your equipment
I went to my usual spot where I photograph a lot of the images you see on my website. A beautiful Black-throated Green Warbler appeared and when I pressed the shutter, nothing happened. The battery was dead and I missed the shot. I ran home and got a different camera with FRESH batteries and all was well again. Even professional photographers sometimes forget to make sure all equipment is in working order. It’s a really good idea to set up a checklist before going out on a photo shoot. Back to Central Park, I was lucky enough to get several good images. This Yellow Warbler was one of my rewards.
